Community-acquired pneumonia is one of the most common infectious diseases with high mortality and morbidity worldwide. In a study in France, clinical and microbiological characteristics of patients with radiologically confirmed community-acquired pneumonia in primary care were characterized. The study focused on pneumonia caused by pneumococci (Streptococcus pneumoniae) , as the latter are the most common causative agents of severe forms of the disease.
