A lifestyle altered by shift work, especially night work, can lead to a disruption of the biological clock, changes in sleeping times, daily rhythms and eating habits and thus to health problems. Researchers from Switzerland and the UK have investigated the effects of shift work on metabolism and circadian clocks.
