Acute pancreatitis is a life-threatening complication in patients with familial chylomicronemia syndrome. With regard to patients with chronic pancreatitis and abdominal pain, interesting long-term data are available from a cohort study in which prompt surgery was compared with endoscopy as first-line therapy.
