Previous studies have shown that individuals with newly diagnosed systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) have an increased risk of pulmonary complications. However, these analyses did not consistently account for potential confounding variables. Recent evidence highlights the importance of routine pulmonary screening and emphasizes the need to take a proactive approach to the management of pulmonary problems in this patient group.
