A consensus paper published in 2025 provides pragmatic advice on the diagnosis and treatment of subsyndromal anxiety disorder (SSA). If it has been established that the patient has SSA, it is recommended that non-drug treatment measures be initiated first. If this does not lead to the desired success, drug therapy should be considered. Phytotherapeutic treatment with a standardized lavender oil extract has been shown to be effective and safe in studies of SSA.
