Opioid analgesics are an essential tool for the relief of cancer-related pain. However, in addition to their undeniable therapeutic value, opioids are associated with a number of predictable side effects that can impact both compliance and quality of life. British researchers have presented an overview of ways to treat these side effects and argue for proactive detection and individualized therapy.
