Patients with heart failure are often recommended to drink a maximum of 1.5 liters of fluid per day. However, the benefits of this measure have hardly been scientifically proven to date. In the FRESH-UP Trial – a large randomized study by the Radboud University Medical Center (NL) – the effects on health-related quality of life after three months were examined in one group each with vs. without fluid restriction. The results were published in Nature Medicine .
