For people with a stoma, peristomal skin health is a key factor for quality of life. With an incidence of up to over 70%, skin complications in the stoma area are among the most common causes of pain, restrictions in everyday life, reduced quality of life and care problems. The early identification of risk factors and the consistent implementation of evidence-based preventive care strategies are increasingly becoming the focus of modern ostomy, continence and wound care.
